Consultation questions
Everything you have, even if it looks unimportant. For a criminal matter: the citation or bail paperwork, the report number, any court date notice, and any correspondence from the District Attorney. For a civil or business matter: the contract, the demand letter, the summons and complaint if you have been served, and the key correspondence. For family law: any filed papers, existing orders, and recent income information. If you are not sure whether something is relevant, bring it. It takes ten seconds to set aside and it can take a month to obtain later.
Where the firm is retained, the consultation fee is generally applied toward the initial fee, and the specifics are confirmed in writing in the engagement agreement. The consultation is charged because it is real work: reviewing your documents, assessing the charge or claim, and giving you a considered answer rather than a sales pitch. You are entitled to leave with useful information whether or not you retain the firm.
Messages sent through this form receive a response by the next business day. If your matter is urgent (you are in custody, a court date is imminent, or a response deadline is running), telephone the office at (626) 935-9247 rather than using the form. Speed matters far more than form does when a deadline is approaching.
Treat it as if it is not. Sending a message through this website does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information sent before that relationship exists may not be protected by the attorney-client privilege. Describe your situation in general terms (the type of matter, the county, the timing) and save the confidential detail for the consultation itself, once an engagement is in place.
Please read. Submitting this form does not create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship is established only by a signed written engagement agreement. Information transmitted before an engagement exists may not be protected by the attorney-client privilege, and the firm may already represent an adverse party. Please describe your matter in general terms only until a conflicts check has been completed and an engagement confirmed.
